Free Online Eating Disorder Support Group
For Moms and Pregnant Women with Eating Disorders
Maggie is partnered with Timberline Knolls, one of the leading eating disorder treatment centers in the US, and launched "Lift the Shame," a web-based support group offering support/resources for moms and pregnant women with eating disorders.
No matter where you live, all you need is a computer, ipad/tablet or smartphone to join this FREE web-based Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD) support group.
This first of its kind online support group meets the 2nd Sunday of each month from 4-5 pm (PST).
Facilitated by Maggie, a certified eating disorders and trauma specialist, group members discuss online topics such as body image during pregnancy and after, how eating disorder behaviors affect the medical and mental health of a pregnant mom and her baby, the challenges moms with eating disorders face and the risks of passing on the disorder to their child. Often women struggling with this do so in silence, so this support group is one safe place to share without the shame attached. Resources for treatment and for treatment professionals are offered to those who request or need referrals.
Pregorexia is a term coined by the media to describe pregnant women with eating disorders. Anyone with anorexia, bulimia or binge eating can struggle with pregorexia.
