About me
As a certified EMDR Trauma Therapist, Maggie treats clients with trauma-related issues from PTSD, sexual/physical/verbal abuse, eating disorders, addictions, early childhood neglect, grief/loss, depression, anxiety and other mental health issues that keep clients stuck with triggering mind/body memories.
Maggie has conducted therapy groups in the community on women's issues, eating disorders and body image. She has also presented eating disorder workshops for graduate students pursuing their masters in counseling psychology. She worked several years as an eating disorder/addictions therapist at a residential eating disorders/addiction treatment center in Newport Beach prior to going into private practice. With a special interest in treating teen and adult adoptees, Maggie is a former consultant for a Newport Beach addictions treatment center facilitating an adult adoptees process group. Additionally, she is certified as a domestic violence counselor.
She is a professional writer and has been a featured mental health freelance writer for two years on the very successful website dedicated to moms called MomLogic.com. She wrote on topics ranging from eating disorders, self harm, sexuality and mindfulness to body image and improving marital relationships.
As a therapist, she holds great compassion and respect for her clients' abilities to work through difficulties in order to find the strength to make positive changes in their lives. She says, "Healing and growth come from a commitment to changing what's not working."
Maggie is a graduate of University California at San Diego (UCSD) with a bachelor's in psychology/biology. She graduated summa cum laude with her master's degree in counseling psychology from Argosy University.
